(San Bernardino Sun) On the fifth anniversary of the Dec. 2, 2015, terrorist attack in San Bernardino, county leaders unveiled plans for a memorial to commemorate the tragedy but also celebrate how first responders risked their lives to stop the terrorists and how the community came together afterward.
White roses, laid by family members of some of the 14 people killed in the shooting, sat beside cracked concrete that symbolized a groundbreaking that will begin in earnest in several months.
Families and first responders gathered privately Wednesday morning, Dec. 2, for a moving and somber remembrance outside the employee entrance to the County Government Center, where the Curtain of Courage memorial will be built, said Supervisor Josie Gonzales.
