(ABC-Australia) Reports are emerging from Syria some Australian women and children have been forcibly removed from the al-Hawl refugee camp, where families of Islamic State fighters are detained.
A spokesman for the Australian families said the women were stripsearched and handcuffed before being led away as terrified children looked on.
Kamalle Dabboussy, whose daughter Mariam and three grandchildren are in the camp, has called on the Australian government to urgently intervene.
Mr Dabboussy said he had heard through others in the camp five women and 14 children had been taken away.
He said his daughter was not one of those removed but he had been unable to contact her.
