(Pioneer Press) The Minneapolis woman who authorities say tried to set multiple fires at St. Catherine University in 2018 and join al-Qaida pleaded guilty to federal terrorism charges Wednesday.
Tnuza Jamal Hassan, 22, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization at St. Catherine’s, which she had attended in St. Paul.
Hassan also faces first-degree arson charges in Ramsey County District Court for trying to set multiple campus buildings on fire, according to a criminal complaint filed in January 2018. Hassan tried to start the fires because she was unable to join al-Qaida, according to the charges.
