Foreign minister: Shamima won’t be allowed to enter Bangladesh UK revoked her citizenship on account of her radicalization

(Dhaka Tribune) Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has reiterated that Shamima Begum, who got her British citizenship revoked, will not be allowed to enter Bangladesh.

Shamima Begum, a British woman of Bangladeshi decent who left Britain as a schoolgirl to join Islamic State in Syria, was recently stipped of her British citizenship. “She has no relation with Bangladesh. She will not be allowed to enter Bangladesh.”

“If Shamima wants to come to Bangladesh, we will in no way allow her. She is a British citizen, her parents and grandparents are also British. She never visited Bangladesh, nor she or anybody from her family ever claimed citizenship,” he said while distributing scholarships of Moazzem Fatema Trust in Sylhet city, on Saturday.
