Erdoğan-linked U.S. foundation received over $50 million in donations — IRS

(Ahval) The United States’ Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has disclosed that the U.S.-based Türken Foundation, established by foundations with close ties to the Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), has received $54.3 million in donations since its founding in 2014.

The IRS provided 53 pages of information detailing the finances of Türken at the request of Turkey’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), ABC Gazetesi news site reported on Wednesday.

Turkey’s Ensar Foundation and TÜRGEV established the Türken Foundation, which provides students with housing and scholarships and organises cultural programmes, in the United States.

The foundation’s board of directors includes Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s daughter, Esra Albayrak.
