Butcher shop employee who slit runaway cow’s throat behind Bloomfield Home Depot charged with animal cruelty

(Hartford Courant) The Bloomfield butcher shop employee who slit the throat of an escaped young cow in a Home Depot parking lot has been arrested on animal cruelty charges.

Badr Musaed, 39, of Windsor, turned himself in to Bloomfield police Thursday. He was released on $10,000 bond and is expected in court Aug. 23.

Musaed was charged with animal cruelty due to the conditions and way in which the cow was killed, Bloomfield Police Lt. Christina Benvenuto said.

“There are certain rules and regulations anyone has to follow about how you put down the animal, whether it’s euthanization or a slaughter,” she said. “It was a few things. It was how the animal was killed, where the animal was killed, sanitation. All things like that is cruel to the animal.”
