20 years in federal pen for Brooklyn ISIS supporter who pondered Times Square terror attack

(NY Daily News) A Brooklyn man will spend 20 years in prison for supporting ISIS and discussing plans to use a garbage truck to crush people in Times Square.

Mohamed Rafik Naji, 40, flew to Yemen in March 2015 in hope of joining the terror organization.

A few days later, [he] emailed his girlfriend to report he’d found a cab driver who [could] get him to ISIS territory. “[H]e said he’s gonna take me short cut almost there inshallah [if Allah wills it] I love u hunny so much,” he wrote.

Several weeks later, Naji posted a picture on Facebook of a man with a covered face wearing what looks like an explosive device on his chest.
