(Times of San Diego) The nation’s largest Muslim advocacy organization called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to investigate Rep. Duncan Hunter over comments he made about his actions as a Marine Corps officer in Iraq.
The Washington, DC-based Council on American-Islamic Relations accused Hunter, a Republican who represents the 50th District in East County, of “shameless” behavior in defending his alleged actions on the battlefield that some have called war crimes.
“Hunter’s shameless defense and normalization of war crimes is an insult to both the victims of war crimes and those who honorably served in our nation’s military,” said Robert McCaw, CAIR’s director of government affairs. “Speaker Pelosi and members of the House of Representatives must thoroughly investigate Congressman Hunter’s own self-admitted war crimes and censure him if these claims are proven to be true.”
