(Greek Reporter) Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke about Greece’s Muslim minority in Thrace during a speech at an Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday.
Cavusoglu said that the minority in Thrace ”does not benefit from the rights and liberties that are written in bilateral and multilateral agreements.”
In a speech which clearly depicted Turkey’s intention of playing a crucial, leading role in the international Muslim world, Cavusoglu referred to a series of global and regional issues involving Muslims and Muslim nations.
His remarks involved Palestine, Libya, Syria, Pakistan, and even the Muslim populations which live in Western countries, clearly saying, as he has said in the past, that ”we are still at a beginning stage of a long fight against Islamophobia and the toxic ideologies behind it.”
