Rep. Mike Rogers angers constituents with Ilhan Omar Facebook post

(AL.com) Constituents and observers of U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers’, R-Saks, Facebook page accused the east Alabama congressman of twisting the meaning of controversial Rep. Ilhan Omar’s words about 9/11 when he said Thursday that the Minnesota congresswoman is among “radical Democrats” that “devalue and degrade our great nation.”

Rogers made the comments while sharing an image of the New York Post’s provocative April 11 front-page cover of the Twin Towers shortly after they were struck on 9/11. The Post’s cover was accompanied by the text, “Rep. Ilhan Omar: 9/11 was ‘some people did something’” and “Here’s your something,” referencing the towers moments after they were attacked.

“Radical Democrats in Congress seek to devalue and degrade our great nation,” Rogers wrote in the post, which was posted on his campaign Facebook account but not the one he uses to document his activities in the House.
