(ABC-Australia) A Sydney man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after planning to behead up to seven random Australians a month.
Omarjan Azari, 26, refused to stand as his sentence was delivered at the Supreme Court in Parramatta.
Azari was found guilty of two terrorism offences last year, including funding Islamic State.
While handing down her sentence, Supreme Court Justice Natalie Adams described a recorded phone conversation Azari had with Australia’s most senior IS figure, Mohammad Ali Baryalei.
She said the 20-minute call was central to the case.
