(CNS) A collection of Muslim and left-wing groups are rallying around Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), demanding that House Democratic leaders condemn not just anti-Semitism, but “all forms of bigotry” as well as threats to members of Congress.
House Democratic leaders reportedly plan to offer a resolution Wednesday condemning anti-Semitism, in response to Omar’s latest remarks on Jews and Israel, which have attracted criticism from some of her Democratic colleagues.
In anticipation of that, Muslim advocacy groups the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and MPower Change will join two left-wing Jewish organizations and two other groups at a mid-morning Capitol Hill press conference in a show of support for Omar, one of the first two Muslim women elected to the U.S. Congress.
