(Hill) House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) blasted House Democratic leaders for not taking disciplinary action against Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) over criticisms of Israel that critics argue are anti-Semitic.
The California Republican said the Democratic congresswomen’s comments were “more so” reprehensible than the comments made by embattled Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) earlier this year.
GOP leadership opted to strip King from his committee assignments after he questioned when the terms “white nationalist” and “white supremacist” became offensive during an interview with the New York Times.
“There’s situations in our conference where a member does something that is wrong — I think you’ve seen from my own actions that I take action about it,” McCarthy told reporters during a press conference Friday. “I think when they stay silent, they are just as guilty.”
