(Brussels Times) Concerning the trial of Mehdi Nemmouche and Nacer Bendrer, Alexander Strens’s mother expects Nemmouche “to explain himself, and say what he did, who his accomplices are, and what his motives are,” his lawyer, Mr. Dalne, said on Monday upon arrival at the Brussels Court of Assizes for the jury selection.
Against [the] Jewish Museum’s lawyer, Mr. Masset, who believes that “debates and trial would have progressed more quickly had they been held before a criminal court,” Mr. Dalne finds it logical that the case be judged by a jury. “If we do not judge acts of this type before a court of assizes, then we will never judge any.”
There is no doubt that the oral hearing will be “emotion loaded” for jurors.
