US: DC group votes to rename street Jamal Khashoggi Way Changing name of street in front [of] Saudi embassy needs approval from city council

(Anadolu) A group here voted in favor of changing the name of the street in front of the Saudi embassy to Jamal Khashoggi Way, sending a message to the international community and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to reports.

The Advisory Neighborhood Commission moved to support the name change after the slain journalist during a meeting Wednesday.

Nihad Awad, the head for the Council [on] American-Islamic Relations, the U.S.’s largest civil rights group, told Anadolu Agency at a memorial for Khashoggi, his group was working on the change.

The change needs approval from the District of [Columbia] City Council.
