(Hill) President Trump on Saturday rejected reports that his administration is considering extraditing a foe of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Trump told reporters at the White House before leaving for a trip to California that extraditing exiled Turkish cleric Fethullah Gülen was “not under consideration.”
He added that “we’re having a very good moment with Turkey,” referring [to] Erdoğan’s release of American pastor Andrew Brunson last month, and said the U.S. is always looking for “whatever we can do for Turkey.”
NBC News reported Thursday that the Trump White House had directed the Department of Justice and FBI to reexamine a request from Turkey to extradite Gülen.
